My College Conversation is an educational college planning program that teaches students and families how to navigate the college process with confidence. Rather than doing the work for students, we provide the guidance, structure, and tools that help them make informed decisions about their future.
Traditional college consultants often manage the application process for students by building college lists, tracking deadlines, and providing extensive application editing.
My College Conversation takes an educational approach. Students actively participate in every step of the process while learning valuable skills in self-reflection, research, organization, decision-making, and planning.
Our goal isn't simply to help students get into college—it's to help them become confident decision-makers.
My College Conversation was founded by Jessica Rowe, a veteran educator with more than 25 years of experience in education and a parent who understands firsthand how overwhelming the college process can feel. Her background in teaching and special education shapes the personalized, educational approach used throughout the program.
The program is designed for students in grades 8–12 and their families who want personalized guidance through the college planning process.
It is especially helpful for families who:
Want a structured process.
Feel overwhelmed by today's admissions landscape.
Value college fit over rankings.
Want their student to take ownership of the process.
Not at all.
Many students begin the process unsure about majors or careers. One of the goals of My College Conversation is to help students better understand their interests, strengths, and future possibilities before building a college list.
Yes.
Because this is an educational program, student participation is essential. Parents are partners in the process, but students are expected to actively engage in discussions, complete assignments, and take ownership of their college planning journey. Sessions typically last 60–75 minutes, depending on the pathway and topic. Most pathways meet every two to three weeks. Application Launch students may meet more frequently during peak application season.
No.
No ethical college planning professional can guarantee admission to a specific college or university.
My College Conversation provides guidance, education, and strategy to help students present their strongest applications while making informed college decisions.
Students write their own essays.
I provide guidance, brainstorming support, organization, and constructive feedback, but the final work should always reflect the student's authentic voice.
Rather than telling students where they should apply, I teach families how to evaluate colleges based on academic, financial, social, and personal fit so they can build a college list that makes sense for them. The focus is finding colleges that are the right fit for each student—not chasing rankings or prestige.Students with a wide range of academic goals and interests can benefit from the program.
Yes.
As a veteran special educator, I have extensive experience helping students break complex tasks into manageable steps, develop organization strategies, and build confidence throughout the planning process.
Because my goal isn't to take over the college process—it's to teach students and families how to navigate it.
My College Conversation is built on the belief that college planning should be an educational experience. Students learn how to research, evaluate, organize, communicate, and make thoughtful decisions that will serve them long after college applications are submitted.
That educational philosophy is what makes My College Conversation different.
